Robert began practicing law as a second career. A native of Virginia, he graduated from James Madison University in 1984. He returned to school to obtain his law degree after several years of working in corporate sales and marketing. Robert attended the Florida State University (FSU) College of Law, where he graduated in 1995 with high honors and was selected to the Order of the Coif.

While at FSU, Robert was a member and executive board member of the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law. Since graduating, he has continued to support the College of Law and has served as president of the College of Law Alumni Association. Robert manages the Firm’s transactional group, which focuses on dealership mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions, dealer business planning, dealer succession planning, and business law. Robert has represented motorcycle, automobile, and heavy-truck dealers, and he and his team have closed dealership transactions in over 40 states. These transactions have run in size from small rural dealerships to large metropolitan market dealerships to multi-line auto mall operations. His working knowledge of the dealership transaction process extends to nearly every automobile brand retailed in the U.S., as well as Harley-Davidson and other motorcycle brands.

During his time with the Firm, Robert has spoken before dealers, accountants, chief financial officers, bankers, and consultants on mergers and acquisition topics. He is a member of the Florida and District of Columbia Bars, and admitted to practice in the courts of those jurisdictions, as well as the United States District Courts of the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida and the District of Colorado. He is the author of Florida’s Troubled Inland Protection Trust Fund: Common Law Actions as Alternative Remedies for an Innocent Buyer of Contaminated Commercial Land, 11 J. Land Use & Environmental. Law. 139 (1995).

Outside the office, Robert enjoys photography, gravel cycling, traveling and skiing in the Mountain States with family and friends, and engaging in other outdoor sports and activities.
