Shawn was born and raised in South Carolina, and moved permanently to Tallahassee, Florida to attend law school at Florida State University. He graduated with honors (Cum Laude) and was admitted to the Florida bar in 2000. Prior to law school, Shawn attended Clemson University, where he graduated first in his class with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management (B.S., Summa Cum Laude, 1997). As an undergraduate at Clemson, his awards and honors included serving as President of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, serving on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council (1996 – 1997), receiving the Faculty Award Scholar (1997), and the Delta Sigma Pi Award Scholar (1997).

Prior to recently joining Bass Sox Mercer, Shawn practiced in the areas of Real Property Law, Probate, Wills, Trusts & Estates. He is a member of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. Shawn has substantial experience in the practice areas of real estate closings, estate planning, and estate administration, while also representing individuals and small business owners on a variety of other transactional, financial, and litigation matters.

Away from the office, Shawn has served as President of the Tallahassee Adult Baseball League for many years, as well as playing and managing teams in the league for almost two decades. Shawn’s daughter is also an active athlete in competitive cheerleading, which keeps the family busy while traveling to tournaments throughout the year.
