BSM’s Transaction Team Continues on a Torrid Pace

Our transaction team continues to handle a record number of buy-sell transaction. In 2021, BSM closed an all-time record 70 transactions involving 99 rooftops. Many of these transactions were scheduled to be closed in 2020 but had been delayed due to the Covid pandemic. With multiples continuing at very high levels, that pace only slowed slightly in 2022 with 63 closing involving 76 rooftops. The transaction team totals thus far in 2023 are keeping stride with our 2022 activity. Thus far this year, BSM has closed 27 buy-sell transactions with 34 pending transactions.

We continue to see the large, privately-held dealership groups being most active in acquiring new vehicle dealerships. The publicly-traded dealership groups have remained active in the buy-sell market but in terms of sheer numbers of closings, the large privately-held groups have been the purchaser in the vast majority of our closings.

BSM Welcomes New Associate Attorney

Maya Hendry has joined the Firm as an Associate Attorney in our litigation section. Ms. Hendry was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. In 2018, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University. In 2021, Ms. Hendry graduated from Florida A&M University College of Law. During law school, she participated in FAMU’s Moot Court team, interned with the United States Attorneys’ Office for the Northern District of Florida, Tallahassee Division, and interned with the Honorable Mark E. Walker, Chief United States District Judge.

Upon graduation from FAMU College of Law, Ms. Hendry completed a federal judicial clerkship in Jacksonville, Florida with the Honorable Monte C. Richardson, United States Magistrate Judge from April 2022 through March 2023.

Ms. Hendry will assist BSM’s dealership clients with regulatory issues, contract review and franchise-related litigation.
