In Memory of Stuart A. Rosenthal
Bass Sox Mercer is sad to announce that our friend and Of Counsel Attorney, Stuart Rosenthal, passed away recently due to complications from an injury. We first met Stuart in his role as General Counsel and Vice President of the Greater New York Automobile Dealer’s Association where he counseled and led for nearly 20 years. During his tenure with GNYADA, Stuart was an essential part of many legal, legislative and regulatory initiates which included several major revisions to New York’s Franchise Law, as well as many compliance and regulatory matters on local, state and federal levels.
Professionally well respected, Stuart was selected to serve on the New York City Mayor’s Task Force on Automobile Insurance Rates; in 2011 served as a panel member on the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s study of the future of Automotive Retailing called, The Road Ahead; and served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Dealer Counsel. Among his many achievements prior to joining GNYADA in 1995, Stuart was an Assistant Attorney General under three New York State Attorney Generals.
In 2014 when Stuart left the GNYADA and started his own practice, Law Offices of Stuart A Rosenthal – Automobile Dealership Law & Compliance, he associated with Bass Sox Mercer as an Of Counsel Attorney, to assist the Firm’s New York Dealer clients. Bass Sox Mercer is proud to have worked with Stuart as he continued his legacy of counsel to dealers, assisting them with all aspects of dealership requirements and legal issues. Stuart loved cars and motorcycles and being involved in the New York International Auto Show. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his two children Benjamin (Brooke) and Devorah and grandchildren Parker and Lily. He was a great man and we will miss him.
